Sailing

I sailed an ocean, unsettled ocean
Through restful waters and deep commotion
Often frightened, unenlightened
Sail on, sail on sailor”

SailingThe BeachBoys were obviously sailing aficionados going by the words of their biggest hit that epitomized one of the most glamorous yet challenging recreational activities. Sailing is such a demanding yet invigorating art that it has inspired many an ode being penned by die-hard fans across the world, over the years.

Technically, sailing is the act of changing the rigging, rudder and dagger or centre board, which enables a sailor to guide the force of the wind on the sails in order to change the direction and speed of a boat. Mastery of the skill requires experience in varying wind and sea conditions, as well as knowledge concerning sailboats. Today most people enjoy sailing as a recreational activity. Recreational sailing can be further divided into racing, cruising and "daysailing" or dinghy sailing. There are many production sailboats available, and several of these manufactured models have ownership associations, such as the Islander 36 association.
